Interview With Buckets Blakes of the Globetrotters
Posted: Feb. 7, 2013
Buckets grew up in Phoenix with nine brothers and sisters. If you're watching his family's home videos and wondering which one he is, look for the five-year-old who cut a hole in his dad's hat so he could shoot tennis balls through it.
It must've helped, because Buckets went on to rule his high school team. Then again, Buckets also lettered in both track and football, so he can't owe all his talent to the hole-in-the-hat practice. He eats a bowl of cereal every night before he goes to bed.
Maybe that's the secret.
Greg Esposito of USAirwaysCenter.com catches up with Buckets Blakes of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters. The two talk about Blakes' history in Phoenix, how fans can help "write the rules" during their appearance at US Airways Center on Feb. 9, and Blakes even demonstrates a couple of trademark moves in true Globetrotters style.
